Maxxium UK is introducing Signature by Harveys, a premium cream sherry that is a complex blend of sherries aged for an average of 12 years.
It combines the character and structure of olorosos, the elegant and pungent aroma of finos and amontillados and the sweetness of Pedro Ximénez.
Its maturity is reflected in its deep, smooth, full-bodied flavour and balance of warm, nutty aromas that precede hints of rich dried fruit.
It is initially launching into Tesco in October and rolling out across specialist convenience stores with the recommended retail price of £11.99. It comes in 50cl bottles with ABV of 19%.
It was used in a cocktail by Adrian Gomes, owner of The Tippling House in Aberdeen, to win third place in the Harveys Cobbler Challenge last month, combining it with a homemade blueberry and brioche shrub. Click here for the story.
Signature by Harveys can be enjoyed chilled over ice, suitable as an aperitif, eating with tapas or with cheese and desserts.
Maxxium UK marketing controller Eileen Livingston said: “Cream sherry is the core of the category and Signature by Harveys taps into the growing trend for higher styles driven by the sherry resurgence in the on-trade.
“Signature by Harveys provides our retail partners with a premium cream sherry from a trusted brand that will meet the consumer thirst for a fortified wine rich with character.”
The new release from the UK’s number-one sherry brand is the ultimate expression of a rare cream sherry crafted by Harveys’ winemaker Manuel J Valcarcel and showcases the brand’s 200-year blending and winemaking heritage.
Positioned as a premium expression, the sherry has a luxurious black label, featuring the wine maker’s signature and gold writing to reflect the age and complexity of the product.
Signature by Harveys joins the award-winning Harveys range comprising Harveys Fino, Harveys Bristol Cream, VORS Amontillado, VORS Palo Cortado, VORS Oloroso and VORS Pedro Ximénez.
