Hedonist Project turns Leeds bar into winter ski lodge

Hedonist Project Winter Lodge

The team at The Hedonist Project are set to reveal the latest incarnation for their regularly-changing Leeds bar – a winter ski lodge.

They have put the shutters up on Trader Dan’s Surf Shack in Briggate and, over four days, are turning it into the new aprés-ski concept in partnership with Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands.

Due to run for three months from October 20, The Winter Ski Lodge will evoke alpine mountain lodges and retro ski chalets with rustic alpine wood panelling, skis mounted on the walls and cosy seating.

The menu will feature festive cocktails, including winter punches that change weekly, plus unique mulled wines.

Continental meat and cheese boards will be served daily and there will also be Swiss-style toasties available from Tuesday to Sunday.

A series of cool aprés-ski events, minus the skiing, will be held throughout the bar’s season including log cabin fondue gatherings and pay-day parties. They are also collaborating with wintersports specialist DC Shoes.

The concept has been created by bartending trio Daniel Crowther, Bruce Lerman and Tom Finnon who are behind consultancy Hedonist Drinks. Debuting a year ago as Liquor & Whisky, it is the only bar in the UK to re-invent itself every season, transforming everything from the décor, food and drink menus to the staff uniforms.

Bruce said: “The past year has been incredible and we’re really excited to mark our first birthday with our best concept yet. We love to put our expertise and passion into different themes to create a really unique experience for our guests.

“We thought the idea of an alpine ski lodge would be really fun – we’re bringing a taste of the Alps to Yorkshire in our own unique way.”
