Heineken to bring glow-in-the-dark bottles to UK

HEINEKEN Club bottleA designer aluminium bottle that glows in the dark has been introduced in the UK for Heineken beer to drive sales in the late-night market.

The Club bottle features bold, origami-like graphics in brilliant green and blue UV colours that glow in the dark and “light up the night” when exposed to black light.

It was created in collaboration with leading US artist Matt W Moore and was unveiled at Milan Design Week in April.

The new bottle was previewed in the UK this week at the Canary Wharf Ice Rink in London Docklands where Heineken teamed up with restaurant and bar Boisdale to create a dedicated Heineken VIP lounge.

The launch included a spectacular UV light dance show and music from headline DJ Nick Grimshaw while waiting staff in premium designer uniforms served the new bottles from an eye-catching origami tray.

Andrew Turner, category and trade marketing director at Heineken, said: “The launch of the Club bottle is another step along the way to making Heineken the UK’s number-one premium lager.”

The bottle will be rolled out in leading bars and clubs in London and other major cities in the UK.

In 2003, Heineken became the first brand to launch an aluminium bottle.
