Evil Twin red ale from San Francisco’s Heretic brewery has been launched in a can format in the UK for the first time.

Left Coast Distribution has added the 12oz (355ml) can to its portfolio of Californian beers after starting to import Heretic beers to the UK over a year ago.

Evil Twin is an easy-to-drink 6.8% ABV red IPA that has a huge hop character without being overly bitter and a rich malt character without being overly sweet. Its overall score with Rate Beer is 97.

Jamil Zainasheff founded Heretic Brewing Company in Fairfield, San Francisco in 2011. Heretic beers available through Left Coast include Evil Twin, Evil Cousin IPA and Shallow Grave in 650ml bottles.

Nigel Garlick, co-founder of Left Coast, said: “We brought Jamil over to the Great British Beer Festival last year and were amazed at how many of the UK’s leading craft brewers attended our ‘meet the brewer’ evenings that we held in both Bristol and London.

“His internet radio show on The Brewing Network, The Jamil Show, has been listened to worldwide and his knowledge and skill for defining beer styles was inspirational to many UK brewers such as Brett Ellis from Wild Beer Co.

“He and his beers are definitely rock and roll and really capture the spirit of what bold craft beers and breweries should be all about.”

The can was launched at the Bay Area Brew Fest at Junkyard Bottle Shop and Pour House in Nottingham in early September.
