Honey tequila part of new range launched in UK

Cazcabel blancoThe world’s first honey-flavoured tequila has been launched into the UK market as part of a new distribution agreement for Cazcabel Tequila.

Proof Drinks is launching Cazcabel blanco, made 85% with agave, in the UK alongside its two flavoured variants, Cazcabel Coffee and Honey. A platino tequila, made with 100% agave, will be launched shortly.

The tequila was launched with the fictional story of Don Cazcabel, a “curador” who healed the sick using natural ingredients according to Mexico’s ancient Toltec, Olmec and Aztec traditions.

Luke Wade, sales director of Proof Drinks, said: “We have had a phenomenal response to Cazcabel. The initial shipment sold out on pre-order. We are eagerly awaiting our second delivery and are confident this brand will be hugely successful in the UK.”

The blanco, at 38% ABV, balances the agave’s earthy notes with a fresh, citrus edge to create a smooth tequila that can be drunk on the rocks or in a cocktail.

Cazcabel Coffee, at 34% ABV, uses the blanco as its base and blends in a sweet hit of South American coffee for a smooth, rich and dry coffee flavour, drinkable over ice or in cocktails.

Cazcabel Honey, also at 34% and using the blanco, is blended with honey to create a sweet spirit with caramel and smoky notes on the finish.

Eduardo Tovar, export manager for Cazcabel Tequila, added: “We have been very impressed with Proof Drinks’ infrastructure and ability to launch new brands in the UK. We are very excited to be part of their growing portfolio of cutting-edge brands, and feel they are the perfect partner for the Cazcabel range.”

Proof Drinks’ portfolio includes Agwa de Bolivia liqueur, Coppa Cocktails, Sloane’s Gin, Rebellion Rum and Pistonhead beer from Sweden.
