Huber Bock brought to UK after growth in American beer

Leading supplier World Beers is building on interest in American beers in the UK by strengthening its portfolio with the addition of Huber Bock – a dark lager from the USA’s second oldest brewery.

With an ABV of 5.5%, the beer offers hints of coffee and cocoa on the palate, with robust roasted malt flavours and a silky mouth-feel leading to a creamy rich finish.

Available in 33cl bottles, Huber Bock was a Silver medallist in the World Beer Championships. It follows the success of the 4.8% ABV bottled Huber Premium in the UK on-trade.

Based in Monroe, Wisconsin, in the US Midwest, the brewery was founded in 1845 by German and Swiss immigrants who specialised in brewing European-style beers using traditional German techniques and principles.

Now called Minhas Craft Brewery, it is the only brewery in the US to have produced a Bock continuously since 1899, excluding the years of Prohibition.

Peter Karsten of World Beers said: “While Huber Premium is still growing at a healthy rate, we have been inundated in the last few months from on-trade outlets searching for dark lagers and bocks, possibly due to the increased German interest post World Cup.

“To this end, we felt the timing was perfect to unleash this absolute beauty on the UK market. With the casual dining, diner and the American craft beer trends continuing to boost interest, we think the Huber Bock can be a big hit as the colder months beckon.”
