HUN LAUNCHES UK’S FIRST ALCOHOL FREE CANNED WINE

Award-winning, millennial canned wine brand, HUN, is set to expand its core product range with the launch of the UK’s first alcohol-free wine in a can.

Launching from June 11th, HUN Alcohol Free (AF) (0.5% ABV, 200ml) is a vegan sparkling white wine made from single origin South African Chenin Blanc grapes, presented in striking gold cans. The alcohol free is the fifth canned wine in the HUN collection, which also includes low-ABV 5.5%  sparkling rosé and a new Shiraz red wine.

With 26% of adults saying they are actively looking to moderate their drinking, HUN AF is designed to be the ‘wine between wines’ with drinkers able to enjoy 100% of the wine’s original aromas and flavour thanks to an innovative de-alcoholisation process. The result is a complex medium-bodied white blend with a pale straw colour that is rich with citrus and slight apricot aromas, supported by very subtle oak and hints of vanilla.

Commenting on the launch, HUN co-founder, Mark Wollard said:

“Over the past year, both my sister and sister-in-law both became pregnant and struggled to find good quality non-alcoholic wine, which ultimately inspired the launch of the HUN AF wine.

“With 8.6m of Brits actively moderating their alcohol consumption, HUN AF has been designed for the modern day millennial drinker, who wants to enjoy the morning after just as much as the night before. It will also be available at a number of summer festivals where festival-goers can enjoy it as the ‘wine between wine’ during a long day of drinking.

“Less alcohol content shouldn’t mean less flavour, so we worked closely with the producer to ensure the de-alcoholisation process retained 100% of the wine’s original aromas and flavour”.

Following their multi-awarding winning ‘out of home’ launch campaign, HUN has partnered once again with top advertising agency TBWA to launch a ‘drink drive thru’ pop-up where drivers, the sober-curious and mums-to-be can enjoy ‘HUN for the road’ and sample for the free the UK’s first alcohol free canned wine.

Taking place on June 19th, HUN will be taking over Shoreditch’s American Car Wash on Great Eastern Street and will also offer a ‘walk thru’ where pedestrians can sample the rest of the HUN range, including their new canned Shiraz red wine.

Adding further comment, Mark Woollard said:

“Not only are we excited to launch the UK’s first alcohol free canned wine, we are also delighted to be partnering once again with TBWA to create the world’s first ‘drink drive thru’ where drinkers can try the world’s first alcohol free canned wine”.

HUN was founded by millennial entrepreneur Mark Woollard alongside a Board of Directors consisting of drinks industry leaders: Waitrose CEO, James Bailey; former Brewdog CEO and Red Bull UK MD, Andy Shaw;  former Red Bull Racing F1 CMO, Dominik Mitsch; and CCO of Banijay Group, Owain Walbyoff. HUN has also received private investment from the former Formula 1 driver-turned-presenter David Coulthard.

HUN AF launches for the on and off trade.. It is available to pre-order from June 6th from https://hunwines.com/ and will be on general sale from 12th June.
