Intertain is investing £500,000 in the refurbishment of its Walkabout in Bristol alongside introducing new food and drink menus.
The renovation of the Corn Street site includes the creation of additional bars and the redesign of the main bar into the Reef Bar where screens showing undersea and beach footage will evoke a Great Barrier Reef paradise.
The Reef Bar will have a variety of pre-bookable booths and private areas for parties, meals, club nights and live music, along with plush VIP areas and a new, state-of-the-art sound and light system.
The interior, which has been redesigned with Play Design, will also include the installation of a giant feature tree in the middle of the venue (pictured below).
Pre-bookable front row seats will be available for all major televised live sports events which will be shown on giant new projection screens, and multiple HD TVs, reflecting Walkabout’s reputation as a destination for live sports on the high street.

A new menu will be introduced to give the venue an increased focus on food, offering light bites, main meals, sharing dishes and party platters. This will be combined with a new drinks menu that includes wines, beers and cocktails inspired by the character and beauty of Australia.
The combination of the fresh-looking modern venue and the new menu is aimed at putting Walkabout on the map for daytime trade, positioning it as a place for an impromptu coffee, a relaxing lunch or a chilled-out afternoon.
John Leslie, chief executive of Intertain, said “We are very excited by the Bristol project and are expecting a great return from the investment. The refurbishment will reinforce Walkabout’s position as the best party and live sports venue in the city centre, while at the same time showcasing our fantastic daytime offering.”
With the new-look venue due to be officially launched on March 26, the renovation has created 15 new permanent bar, kitchen and management jobs.
