Tennessee Nitro Martini goes on tour with Mr Lyan

Tennessee Nitro Martini

A programme of workshops for bartenders is set to begin this week focused on a twist on a Jack Daniel’s and cola using cold-brewed coffee and a nitrous keg system.

Starting at Peggy’s Bar in Manchester on Tuesday (March 20), the Tennessee Nitro Tours are being run by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey with leading bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan, and his team at Super Lyan in London.

The six workshops around the UK will be built around the Tennessee Nitro Martini which reworks a Jack & Cola by mixing Jack Daniel’s with Mr Lyan’s cola syrup and Sandows cold-brewed coffee, which is then pulled through a nitrous keg system, giving it a soft and delicate texture.

Bartenders attending the sessions will get to gain valuable insight from Ryan and his team about how they operate and the thought process that led to the creation of the cocktail.

The Super Lyan team will also collaborate with the host bar to give consumers a chance to taste the Tennessee Nitro Martini.

The initiative’s aim is to give bartenders across the UK the opportunity to learn from some of the very best in the industry as part of on-going commitment by Jack Daniel’s to nurture and mentor bartenders as they develop in their careers.

It follows last year’s Tennessee Calling II mentorship programme that included a series of informative sessions for bartenders led by London Cocktail Club co-founder JJ Goodman and Erik Lorincz, head bartender at The Savoy’s American Bar, with Jack Daniel’s UK brand ambassador, Cam Dawson.

Nidal Ramini, head of advocacy for northern Europe, said: “At Jack Daniel’s, we are dedicated to supporting bartenders as they develop their careers. Throughout the Tennessee Nitro Tours, we will be working with Tennessee Calling II finalists and collaborating with bars that share the same ethos as Jack Daniel’s, to give bartenders the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business.

“Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey has been made the same way for 150 years and it tastes the same in every country. The Jack & Cola is a classic cocktail and the Tennessee Nitro Martini is a new way for bartenders to serve up this premium whiskey as part of a high-quality cocktail.”

Ryan added: “We were very excited to partner with Jack Daniel’s to create the Tennessee Nitro Martini and it’s the first collaboration of its kind, which we originally launched at White Lyan, before taking it to Super Lyan.

“Using the golden sweetness of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, we balanced this with our spicy cola and Sandows cold-brewed coffee. Pulling this through a nitrous system produces a silkier texture and gives the ideal dilution, balance and flavour with a perfect creamy texture.”
