Japan Centre and sake brand Gekkeikan team up for the Sake Cocktail Competition

Japan Centre – the well-established Japanese food hall – has teamed up with the renowned sake brand Gekkeikan to give mixologists the chance to win a trip to Kyoto for the brands’ upcoming Sake Cocktail Competition.

How cocktail professionals can enter:

  • Create a cocktail using Gekkeikan’s Tokubetsu Junmai, Nigori or Umeshu sake
  • Submit your full contact details, bar and location, cocktail recipe(s) and photo(s) of your cocktail on the application form found here by 28th August
  • The competition is free to enter

Please see full details on the competition here, including how to apply, information on the Gekkeikan products and the prize details.

The challenge is to create an original cocktail that is inspired by the theme ‘Fusion and Harmony’. The mixologists must use at least 50mls of the brand’s Tokubetsu Junmai, Nigori or Umeshu sake in their cocktail. Applicants may submit a maximum of three recipes in the online form, one to showcase each product.

The 10 finalists will be asked to present their cocktail to the panel of judges on 31st October at Rules Restaurant in Covent Garden, where they will need to make three serves in 10 minutes – two for the taste test and one for the photo shoot.

First prize will walk away with the title ‘Gekkeikan Cocktail Master 2022’, along with a coveted trip to Kyoto with flights and accommodation paid for.
