Justin Timberlake’s tequila comes to UK

901 tequila901 Tequila, co-founded by pop star Justin Timberlake, is coming to the UK after a distribution agreement was agreed with leading drinks company Hi-Spirits.

The triple-distilled 40 per cent ABV silver tequila is produced in small batches by Destileria Santa Lucia from a 60-year-old recipe.

Expansion of Hi-Spirits’ portfolio has led it to create the new role of commercial director, appointing John Vider, previously at wine and spirits specialist Bibendum.

Hi-Spirits managing director Dan Bolton said: “Hi-Spirits is growing quickly, and one of my first priorities was to add even more strength to the management team, to ensure that we are taking full advantage of the opportunities for our brands in the UK market.”

901 Tequila was co-founded by Timberlake and president Kevin Ruder in 2009 and went on to be awarded a Double Gold medal at the 2011 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Its smooth, crisp flavour makes it ideal for sipping neat, enjoying over ice, or mixed in classic cocktails such as a Margarita. The recommended retail price for a 700ml bottle is £32.85.

Ruder said: “901 Tequila has been extremely well-received by our distributors, key accounts, leading cocktail experts and, most importantly, consumers during our first four years in the American marketplace. We look forward to continuing to build the brand with Hi-Spirits in the UK.”

Bolton added: “We’re delighted to be bringing 901 Tequila to the UK market. Justin Timberlake’s deep respect for the heritage and quality of tequila has led to the development of a genuinely premium spirit which has a wide appeal.”
