Ketel One Vodka releases new orange flavour in GB


A second flavour has been added in Britain for super-premium Ketel One Vodka, infused with natural oils from Valencia and Mandarin oranges.

Diageo Reserve GB has introduced Ketel One Oranje infused with essential oils crafted by a perfume specialist from Grasse, the home of perfume in the south of France.

Ketel One vodka is slowly incorporated with the oils, maturing for over 24 hours, delivering a zesty orange freshness and crisp, aromatic finish. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

The newest flavour joins Ketel One Vodka and Ketel One Citroen. They are produced in Schiedam in the Netherlands and overseen by the Nolet family who founded the distillery over 325 years ago.

Nick Temperley, head of Diageo Reserve GB, said: “The launch of Ketel One Oranje is a reflection of the continued demand for new and innovative variants in the super-premium vodka category.”

Citing figures from research specialist CGA, he added: “As a whole, the category remains hugely popular, with recent growth in the total trade – up 18% in volume and 14% in value. Ketel One Vodka is leading the way, significantly outperforming the category, up 57% in volume and 45% in value over the last year.”

With subtle sweet notes and an orange crispness, Ketel One Oranje is recommended for sipping over ice or mixing in serves such as an Espresso Martini (see below).

The combination of citrus and warm floral hints make it a good base for vodka and soda and a twist on a Bloody Mary, adding both Ketel One Oranje and orange juice to a Bloody Mary base made with Ketel One Vodka.

Fragrance: Zesty orange freshness fill the nose on first nosing.
Flavour: Bright orange crispness and juicy orange notes.
Feel: Generous, distinctive silky softness coating on the tongue.
Finish: Lively, warm hint of spice lingering on the palate with a long finish.

Ketel One Oranje & Soda
50ml Ketel One Oranje
85ml Club soda
3 orange wedges
Build in a Collins glass over ice, squeezing the orange wedges before adding. Stir. Garnish with an orange slice.

Ketel One Oranje Espresso Martini
50ml Ketel One Oranje
25ml Cold-brew coffee liqueur
25ml Cold-brew coffee concentrate
One dash orange bitters
Shake all ingredients vigorously and strain into a chilled coupe, or over rocks in a large tumbler. Garnish with chocolate flakes and orange zest.
