The team behind Kopparberg cider are to launch Swedish beer Fagerhult in the UK this spring, available to the on-trade in cans.
Previously exclusive to Sweden, Fagerhult is being introduced in 330ml cans, initially at Tesco stores but then through a variety of wholesalers and distributors for the on-trade in May.
Made with barley, malt, yeast, hops and water, Fagerhult has a fresh and clean malty taste, with an ABV of 4.8%. It is recommended for serving ice cold and sipped straight from the can.
It is produced at the independent family-owned Kopparberg Bryggeri, which dates back to 1882, in the Swedish town of Kopparberg, where the range of ciders of the same name is made.
Fagerhult is packaged in a stubby gold and black can emblazoned with an elk head, tapping into the growing trend for canned beers and lower-volume options as consumers opt for premium drinks.
It was launched via video-sharing app Vine, with a six-second clip depicting the beer’s appeal. It can be viewed here: https://vine.co/v/O3hpEHidYWq
Jodie Alliss, brand manager at Kopparberg, said: “Fagerhult stubbornly delivers on style and taste every time and will appeal to beer lovers who want a quality ‘no frills’ brew.
“Fagerhult also promises to diversify the world beer scene in the UK. We all know and love canned craft beer from the US and the UK – now it’s time for the Swedes to enter the fray.”
