The Kraken Black Spiced Rum is inviting UK pubs and bars to join The League of Darkness, a free online engagement and support hub providing connections, rewards and giveaways.

The League of Darkness offers rum fans and bar owners the chance to enter competitions to win tickets to festivals, earn credits to claim limited-edition merchandise or find out where the Kraken Freaky Tiki Bar will be heading to next.

Since its launch in 2017, 14,000 consumers have signed up to the platform, offering trade members the chance to connect with their audience and ultimately, increase footfall.

A host of information is available to bar owners, managers and staff, from bespoke cocktail recipes like The Kraken’s signature serve of The Perfect Storm to exclusive point of sale material, ranging from mason jars and wall murals to custom branded t-shirts and LED signs.

Bars can also enter regular competitions, with winners landing anything from bar make-overs, custom-made oak rum barrels and the chance to host the Freaky Tiki bar.

To enjoy the benefits, outlets can sign up to The League of Darkness for free and earn points via completing tasks to show their loyalty, promote the brand and engage with content. Points equate to currency as members will be able to exchange their points tally for rewards, without any additional cost.

In a survey of over 100 trade members in February 2019, 29% claimed that they sold “a lot more Kraken” than they had done prior to becoming a member, with a further 46% claiming that they sold “a little more” Kraken.

Nearly half of members (45%) suggest that the reason they became a member, and still enjoy being a member of the League of Darkness, is because it rewards them for selling a product that they love.

In fact, 93% state that they are very likely to recommend The League of Darkness to other bartenders and bar owners.
