A range of alternative tortilla chips has been introduced to bars and pubs by Funnybones Foodservice, the specialist Mexican, American and Tex-Mex wholesaler.

It has become the exclusive UK foodservice supplier of Way Better Corn Tortilla Chips, which are made from sprouted seeds, beans and grains and are gluten free, dairy free and GM free.

An alternative to regular corn tortilla chips, they are full of flavour as well as goodness. The seeds, beans and grains come from Way Better’s own sprouting facility to remove the outer layer that is traditionally tough to digest.

They are currently available in three flavours including Spicy Siracha, which contains sprouted ingredients such as flax, quinoa and kale, and Unbeatable Blues which are made with sprouted flax, quinoa, chia, and radish.

The third is Sweet Potato, combining salty and savoury, which is made with added sprouted quinoa and chia. All ingredients used for the three products are natural and they come in 156g packs.

Way Better tortilla chips are baked in a special multi-level tortilla oven to reduce moisture and give the grains and seeds a toasted flavour. The chips are then fried for a short time in sunflower or safflower oil to give a corn tortilla taste.
