Leading London bar creates botanical garden with Hendrick’s

Victorian-inspired cocktail bar Mr Fogg’s in London’s Mayfair has teamed up with Hendrick’s Gin to create an outside garden.

Constructed on a new permanent outdoor terrace, The Hendrick’s Botanical Garden will officially open in early May. It is filled with flowers, herbs and bric-a-brac and furnished with colonial-style blinds, garden furniture and ceiling fans to evoke Victorian living.

Its design is in line with the interior of Mr Fogg’s which is inspired by the adventurer Phileas Fogg in Jules Verne’s 19th-century classic Around the World in Eighty Day.

Inception Group, which opened the cocktail bar two years ago, has built the 20-cover terrace on the side of the Bruton Lane building in a small area for parking. It has a retractable roof that will make it an all-weather outdoor space.

Hendrick’s cocktails include teapot sharers with recipes such as A Symphony of Peculiar Deliciousness, made with gin, rose-infused jasmine tea syrup, Briottet bergamot liqueur, lychee juice and lime juice.

Another teapot sharer is We Have Them By The Junipers! which is a zingy combination of Hendrick’s, Isake Classic sake, St Germain elderflower liqueur, apple juice, lime juice and fresh cucumber.

Single cocktails include A Tale of Two Stills which takes its inspiration from the two rare copperhead stills used to create Hendrick’s, and is made with matcha green tea, infused with Dolin Dry vermouth, Hendrick’s Gin and peach bitters.

Berried Alive Since 1873 has been created with Reyka vodka, Briottet crème de mûre, cranberry conserve, lemon juice, Monin butterscotch syrup and cherry brine.

Whisky lovers like Mr Fogg himself can enjoy cocktails such as She Was Only A Whisky Maker…But He Loved Her Still, a mix of The Balvenie 12 Year Old Double Wood single malt Scotch whisky, Evangelista ratafia liqueur, Mr Fogg’s sweet vermouth blend and Cynar bitter liqueur.
