Leading premium Italian soft cheese range brought to UK

A leading make of Italian soft cheese, Nonno Nanni, is now available in the UK for the first time through a new distribution partnership with AJA Portfolio Brands.

With almost a quarter of the market share in the premium stracchino cheese sector in Italy, the range of cow’s milk cheeses includes stracchino, robiola, caprino and squaquerello.

The brand dates back to 1947 when Giovanni Lazzarin, known as “Nanni”, started his small cheese-making business in a town northwest of Venice. Run by the third generation of the Lazzarin family, the business takes its name from the Italian for grandfather.

Modern processing technologies at the dairy’s state-of-the-art headquarters help harness the nutritional properties of milk. Under precisely controlled conditions, living lactic ferments achieve extremely high concentrations, contributing to the high quality and taste of the cheeses.

With a creamy richness and soft texture, Nonno Nanni can be stirred through soup, pasta or risotto, served in salads or as an ingredient for desserts such as cheesecake, or enjoyed on their own or spread on bread or crackers. Nonni Nanni has also developed lactose-free varieties.

“In recent years the brand’s presence has expanded into a number of neighbouring European countries. As exports have continued to develop, we are now introducing Nonno Nanni to the UK.

The Nonno Nanni range can be sampled at this year’s Speciality & Fine Food Fair at Olympia in London from September 4 to 6. They will also be showcased at the international food and drink innovation show SIAL in Paris from October 16 to 20 and at Welcome Italia at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London from October 21 to 23.
