Leading bar and restaurant entrepreneur Robert Newmark (pictured) is part of a team launching an “unconventional” new grill house and cocktail lounge in London.
West Thirty Six is due to open in Golborne Road, North Kensington, in the former site of The Earl of Portobello at the end of January.
Robert, whose ventures include Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill and Shoreditch, has joined forces with leading hospitality consultant Cheila Reais, formerly an operations manager with Morgans Hotel Group at London’s Sanderson hotel.
They have collaborated with Piers Walker, who was involved in the new Mondrian hotel in London as regional director for food and beverage marketing at Morgans Hotel Group, and John Pollard who was a head chef for Soho House Group.
Piers said: “West Thirty Six is a refuge for locals, a hub for creators and a home for food and cocktail enthusiasts alike. We are situated in the soul of west London, in amongst the character and artisanal culture of Golborne Road.
“We aim to be authentic in telling our story and a natural extension to an already bustling neighbourhood lifestyle.”
West Thirty Six will take classic items from a conventional grill house menu and place a unique twist on them. As well as cooking with natural fuels and charcoal, they will produce their dry-aged beef in-house as well as a special charcuterie accompanied by mixed sides including truffled mac ‘n’ cheese and beef brisket sliders. No more details have been released yet on the drinks.
The property will feature a variety of rooms, including a range of lounge areas and four outdoor spaces with an open grill and bar. It will also be a space for creative people to showcase their works and collaborate on events.
