Leading wholesaler adds draught listing for German beer

Krombacher Pils

Premium German beer Krombacher Pils is set to grow in the UK on-trade after gaining a national listing for its 50-litre keg with leading wholesaler Matthew Clark.

It builds on the success of the 4.8% ABV beer which has been available in a 330ml bottle in Matthew Clark’s Boutique Beer brochure for the last two years.

Krombacher’s UK sales director Stephan Kofler said: “This listing of Krombacher Pils in keg at the leading drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark will give us truly national coverage.

“The UK has been identified as a strategic market for Krombacher and this latest listing will support plans for even further volume growth.”

Krombacher Pils is brewed at the Krombacher Brewery, which has been in the hands of the Schadeberg family for generations. It has seen rapid growth in the UK with volume sales up by 47% for the 12 months of 2014.

Graham Archibald, sales director of Morgenrot – one of the brand’s two UK importers – said: “Krombacher simply oozes German quality and is definitely a brand to watch in 2015 after another year of incredible growth.

“The listing of the Pils in draught format will provide the perfect launchpad for next year and we are excited to be working with the dedicated Matthew Clark team to make it a leading star in the UK on-trade.”
