Let’s celebrate Sherry Week (7 – 13 Nov)

Sherry Week
Let's celebrate Sherry Week!

Sherry week starts today and what better excuse is there to enjoy the fortified wine that is fast emerging as a hot spirit on London’s top drinks menus?

Once overlooked, the spirit is enjoying a resurgence and is no longer just a tipple for grannies at Christmas. Sherry Week is a global event which runs from 7 – 13 November but if you’re in London, you could check out special Sherry cocktails on offer at Social Wine and Tapas in Marylebone.

In honour of Sherry Week, guests at Jason Atherton’s Social Wine and Tapas can sample two bespoke cocktails, created especially for the celebration. A classic Negroni has been given a Social Wine and Tapas sherry twist for guests to enjoy before their meal while for afters, a sherry Cold Fashioned with coffee infusion offers a satisfying digestif. The cocktails will be available from 7tth until 12 November.

From 7th – 13th November, Brindisa restaurants are offering an authentic Spanish Sherry Week celebration, with a Sherry Flight showcasing their top picks from one of the oldest sherry producers, based in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Available for £9.00, The Flight includes Manzanilla La Gitana en Rama, Fino Amontillado Napoleon and PX Triana Hidalgo and is a good introduction to the up-and-coming spirit.

International Sherry Week is an opportunity for foodies and wine aficionados around the world to take their palates on a journey, sampling one of the most emblematic elements of Spanish culture – Sherry Wines.
Now in its 3rd year, International Sherry Week brings together thousands of #sherrylovers in a multitude of events in more than 25 countries every year. Organisers have reported increases of as much as 500 per cent in Sherry wine sales during International Sherry Week, along with sustained growth as a result of exposure.
