Liam Norval joins The Proud Group with exciting plans for the future

The Proud Group, owner of exclusive cabaret dining venues, has announced the appointment of Liam Norval as its new group sales director.

Liam joins Proud from the Maxwell’s Restaurants, Bars and Clubs Group, where as group clubs and sales manager, and previously in his role as director of marketing and promotions for Cafe de Paris and Tropicana Beach Club, he led sales, strategy, and had an overview of operations and marketing.

After working at Maxwells for eight years, Liam was approached by Proud Group founder and club owner Alex Proud. He was instantly impressed with the ambitions of the company and decided to take on the new venture, with the hope to take the Proud venues “to the next level”.

He said: “I am ecstatic to join and I am very passionate about the company. After speaking with Alex, it’s clear his ambition matches my own and I am sure we will achieve great things together.

“It’s going to be a rollercoaster of a journey. I can’t wait to get stuck in and start this new exciting chapter of my life! I’m Proud to join Proud!”

Alex has previously stated his ambitions to expand the Group into other UK cities. In March, The Proud Group launched its new flagship venue Proud Embankment, located under the Northside of Waterloo Bridge.

The events space is set in an iconic building with views over the River Thames has a capacity of up to 750 people. It is already becoming established as the place to be seen, with celebrity guests such as Lily Allen and Drake making appearances. In fact, Drake recently filmed parts of his latest music video at Proud Embankment.

In his new role, Liam aims to implement Alex’s plan for making Embankment the flagship Proud venue. He will be focusing on some short-term strategies, the first of which involves getting all the venues’ cabaret shows up to a good standard.

He will be assessing all aspects of the business and changing what he deems necessary, bringing in some top managers to help with making the venues “even more impeccable”.

“To be number one, the experience has to be out of this world. People need to be wowed as soon as they get out of the taxi and in the front door. For me, my first project will be looking at all the venues and what areas need the most attention,” said Liam.

Liam will also work hard on creating appeal for the private hire of the Embankment venue, building trust with clients and organising private events over the Christmas period.

Alex Proud said: “I’m extremely excited to have Liam on board, during an unprecedented period of growth for the Proud Group. Proud has always taken risks, and it is crucial that we have a bold senior team in place to continue to lead the market. Liam has a fantastic track record and we share a common passion for the nightlife industry.”
