Bars in Yorkshire will be marking the arrival of the Tour de France cycle race with serves made with Licor 43 as part of a calendar of on-trade events for the Spanish liqueur this summer.

Events include a partnership with The Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, which will see Licor 43 drinks served to guests during its Welcome to Yorkshire lunch.

The Tour de France sets off from Leeds on July 5, covering 190 kilometres to Harrogate. On July 6, it covers 201 kilometres from York to Sheffield, and on July 7, the cyclists will ride 155 kilometres from Cambridge to London.

On July 5, The Fleece and The Craven Heifer in Addingham, North Yorkshire, will have four special Tour De France serves of Licor 43 in their marquees. Also on race day, Bierkeller in Leeds will serve the Mini43 – a shot of Licor 43 with light whipped cream.

On Saturday June 7, Licor 43 ran a courtyard party at Distrikt bar in Leeds as part of the city’s Leeds Loves Cocktails festival. It featured live music, DJ sets and a Licor 43 cocktail master class, plus a Mediterranean food menu to match the drinks.

Brand manager Julia Bliss said: “These events are a great way to kick off our summer calendar of promotional activity that we have planned for this year with Licor 43. We are looking forward to engaging consumers with the Spanish tastes of the liqueur and bringing golden moments to the UK.”

Suggested summer serves include the simple Puro43, with 50ml of Licor 43 served over ice or ice cold, and the Balon43, made with 50ml of Licor 43 served over ice and topped with sparkling water and fresh lemon juice, ideally in a balloon glass.

The Ibiza43 combines 30ml of Licor 43 with 12.5ml of rum and 90ml of pineapple juice over ice in a highball glass.
