Liverpool deli revamped into new city centre bar

Delifonseca LiverpoolA new bar has been created in Liverpool city centre through the refurbishment of the ground floor of deli and restaurant Delifonseca.

The deli in Stanley Street has been revamped into a 60-capacity bar offering an extensive wine list by the glass plus a large variety of premium spirits and beers.

There is also a menu of small plates and snacks, created by Delifonseca’s head chef Andy Hutchinson.

The deli and restaurant were originally opened by Candice Fonseca in 2006, followed by a second Delifonseca in Brunswick Quay at Liverpool Dockside in 2010.

She said: “We believe that there is a real need for a new place to drink and socialise in this area and, thanks to this new venue, we no longer have to refer our diners to other places when they feel like having a drink or two before or after they dine with us.”

Candice also has plans at Dockside to expand Delifonseca’s outside catering operation and install 40 to 50 more seats for diners. Work on that is due to begin in early 2014.

She added: “It’s a very exciting time for us here at Delifonseca and we are really looking forward to seeing what this new element of the business brings.”
