Living Ventures picks up awards for Manchester House

Manchester House

Living Ventures has scored a hat trick in the Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards with Manchester House winning three awards including best bar.

The venue (pictured), which opened in Manchester’s Bridge Street a year ago, received the titles of restaurant of the year, newcomer of the year and bar of the year at last night’s ceremony.

Living Ventures also achieved the accolade of The Howard and Ruth Award for Outstanding Achievement going to its co-founder and chief executive Tim Bacon. The company’s other venues include Australasia in Manchester’s Spinningfields, Blackhouse Grill restaurants and The Alchemist bars in Manchester and London.

The award for best pub went to The Dockyard in MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, which was opened by Steve Pilling and Simon Stanley at the end of last year, with design by Lomax Interiors.

The winner of best food pub was Thwaites’ Eagle and Child in Ramsbottom, north of Manchester, which is run by licensee Glen Duckett. Its previous awards include the UK’s best Sunday lunch in the Observer Food Monthly Awards.

The awards were held last night at Manchester Town Hall at the end of the annual Manchester Food & Drink Festival.
