London bar presents drinks for the end of the world

B&H Buildings

A London bar has launched a series of events built around the theme of what would your last drink be if the world were to end tomorrow.

The Last Libations are being held at Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings (pictured) in Clerkenwell every month until May with special guest hosts – from industry experts to spirits producers – paying homage to their chosen final tipple.

On February 15, gin expert and writer Emma Stokes will share her passion for what she will be drinking when the world ends – gin. Based on her new book The Periodic Table of Cocktails, she will offer tastings, food pairings and anecdotes about cocktails generally.

On March 14, Dave Mulligan will talk about what would be his last libation, Irish spirit poitín. Having launched the premium small-batch Bán Poitín, he will guide guests through the flavours and heritage of this unique and often-forgotten spirit, with opportunities to sample it neat and in drinks.

The event on April 11 will feature Glendalough Botanical Gins, made with seasonal ingredients foraged from the area around Wicklow in Ireland, while on May 9, Alexandre Gabriel of Cognac Ferrand will talk about the spirits he produces and loves, from cognac to gin and rum.

The events are ticketed at £20 a head, available in advance at or
