Scarfes Bar at Rosewood London and the Punch Room and Berners Tavern (pictured) at the London Edition hotel are among winners of this year’s European Hotel Design Awards.

They were chosen by judges from new interior design projects across Europe and announced last night at a ceremony to tie in with this week’s Sleep hotel design exhibition in London.

Scarfes Bar (pictured below), designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, was named best bar interior design after being officially launched this spring in the year-old hotel in Holborn.

Berners Tavern and the Punch Room at The London Edition hotel in Fitzrovia won the award for best restaurant interior design, both created by Yabu Pushelberg in collaboration with ISC Design Studio.

The hotel, conceived by hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriott International, was also highly commended for Yabu Pushelberg and ISC Design Studio’s design in the category for lobby, lounge and public areas.

The Rosebery, created by GA Design International, at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel in London won the award for best interior design for café-bars and all-day dining.

Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, which is home to a lobby bar, basement bar and restaurant, picked up the award for best hotel renovation for a project led by EPR Architects. The late Alex Calderwood, co-founder of Ace Hotel, was announced as winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Members of this year’s judging panel included Robbie Bargh of drinks and design consultancy Gorgeous Group, Javier Hortal of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Caroline Cundall of GA Design and Celia Geyer from Hilton Worldwide.

The 2014 European Hotel Design Awards dinner was held in London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge last night. The Sleep event runs at the Business Design Centre in Islington on November 26 and 27.
