The Library Bar at The Lanesborough in London and The Distillery at Hilton London Bankside have been named finalists in international design awards.
They have been nominated in the category for best hotel bar in the annual European Hotel Design Awards alongside bars in Hamburg, Milan, Mallorca and Vienna.
The Library Bar (pictured top) was refurbished last year as part of a major renovation of The Lanesborough hotel, with interiors by Alberto Pinto Interior Design.
The Distillery bar (pictured below) opened in October at the new Hilton London Bankside, with design by Dexter Moren Associates and Twenty2Degrees.
Two London finalists made it to the top six in the category for best restaurant design: Oxbo at Hilton London Bankside, by Dexter Moren Associates and Twenty2Degrees, and The Terrace at Rosewood London by Nathalie De Leval and Luciano Giubbilei.
Dexter Moren Associates’ work on the Hilton London Bankside also reached the finals for best new build as well as for best event space design with Twenty2Degrees.
Private members’ club, Devonshire Club, which opened in May in two former Grade II-listed buildings in London, is among finalists for the architectural category of best adaptive re-use in a project by SUSD.
Other finalists in the awards include The Royal York Hotel in the categories of restoration and renovation, for architectural design by 3D Reid, and best lobby, lounge and public areas for interiors by Goddard Littlefair.

For the next stage of the competition, a member of the judging panel will visit each hotel to assess its creative excellence. Judges will also be looking for evidence that winning projects have met the needs of both the client and the guest.
The 15-strong judging panel – chaired by Celia Geyer, senior director for architecture and design for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Hilton Worldwide – will vote on the category winners including the award for European Hotel Design of the Year.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 21 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
