London club Toy Room expands to Mykonos and Dubai

The owners of boutique London club Toy Room are taking the concept global, launching new venues in Dubai and on the Greek island of Mykonos.

After opening the first Toy Room (pictured) in Mayfair in November, Luca Maggiora and Jordan Rocca have created a smaller version of their hip-hop club in the seafront Little Venice area of Mykonos.

With an open-plan layout and bespoke designer furniture, it aims to deliver the wow factor through state-of-the-art lighting and sound system and specially commissioned artwork by French artist Philippe Cardin.

In April, Luca and Jordan opened Toy Room DXB at the luxurious Al Murooj Rotana Hotel in downtown Dubai, with a small and intimate setting. Both new clubs are home to the Toy Room’s sunglasses-wearing mascot, Frank the Bear, who dances with guests.

Luca and Jordan have a number of other ventures from Los Angeles to the Middle East. They are co-owners of clubs Project London and Project LA, London pizzeria and cocktail bar B-Soho, Moosh juice bar in Fulham, London, and Random People Clothing.

Toy Room London in Swallow Street is described as being “similar to sitting in a friend’s living room”. With only 180 capacity and 12 private tables, each with a cosy leather couch, it aims to feel “relaxed and carefree”.

Luca said: “We want a cool crowd. It doesn’t matter whether someone comes in a suit or in Converse and a T-shirt, the important thing for us is that you bring something to the party.”

The Mayfair club has attracted many celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessie J, Molllie King and Jourdan Dunn.
