London Cocktail Week under new ownership

lcw lww logosThe annual London Cocktail Week has been sold to a new stand-alone business backed by leading supplier Speciality Drinks.

The new venture, called ABV Global, will continue to run the cocktail festival, which began in 2010 and is held every October, as well as the new London Wine Week, launching in June, and the new Hong Kong Cocktail Week.

It is headed by Hannah Sharman-Cox who founded and developed London Cocktail Week, working with the rest of her team who have transferred over to the new business.

The events were sold by founding company Odd Firm of Sin, which intends to focus on its diffordsguide.com website and book publishing.

Its backer Speciality Drinks is headed by Raj and Sukhinder Singh who also run The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show which runs alongside London Cocktail Week every October,

Odd Firm of Sin founder Simon Difford said: “From what started as my saying to Hannah Sharman-Cox that we should do something like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for cocktails in London, I’m proud of what an important event London Cocktail Week has become.

“With Raj and Sukhinder’s support, I know it will continue to flourish and I very much look forward to the inaugural London Wine Week.”

London Wine Week, modelled on London Cocktail Week, will involve wine suppliers and bars across the capital from June 2 to 8, tying in with Brintex’s London Wine Fair. Click here for more details.
