London Fashion Week inspires capital’s bartenders

The Berry Hall at Drake & MorganLondon Fashion Week has inspired bars in the capital to create special cocktails and lists to refresh visitors coming to the events from around the world.

Three cocktails inspired by supermodels are on the menu at Drake & Morgan’s five bars, such as the Negroni Campbell made with Little Bird London Dry Gin, Aperol, Byrrh, rhubarb bitters, camomile and lavender syrup.

The Berry Hall (pictured above) is mixed the same gin plus lemon juice, agave nectar and blueberries, while the Heidi Plum (pictured below) combines Sipsmith Gin with maraschino, plum liqueur and lemon juice, with a plum garnish.

Priced at £15.95, they are on Drake & Morgan’s menus from February 15 to 19. Its bars are the Refinery in Southwark, The Parlour in Canary Wharf and The Anthologist, The Folly and The Drift in the City.

The May Fair Bar at the May Fair Hotel is presenting six cocktails inspired by iconic shoes, available from February 13 to 28. Priced £14, they include the Red Stiletto, made with frozen raspberry vodka, cherry liqueur and champagne, garnished with a raspberry and mint leaves. The Mary Jane (pictured below) combines peach-infused vodka with crème de pêche and crème de framboise with a garnish of a pomegranate wedge and pomegranate seeds.

The Peep Toe (pictured below) mixes Hennessy Fine de Cognac with crème de mure, lemon juice and gomme syrup, garnished with a cocktail cherry, while the Strappy Sandal is a combination of Hendrick’s Gin, Martini Extra Dry, Martini Rosoo and Grand Marnier, garnished with a lemon twist.

The Velvet Mule is a spicy twist on a classic, mixing Sailor Jerry rum with ginger beer, lime wedges and fresh ginger, garnished with lime slices and a cocktail cherry. Finally, the Classic Court is made with Zubrowka bison grass vodka, Manzana apple liqueur, apple juice, gomme syrup and crushed fresh apple, garnished with apple slices and a cherry.

At the Bassoon Bar at the Corinthia Hotel, head bartender Mario la Pietra has crafted five new drinks under the banner of The London Collection (pictured below).

Savile Row Stitch-up, Bond Street Bespoke, Somerset Sling, Sloaney Pony, East London Spice

Priced at £16, they included The Savile Row Stitch-up, made with Dewars 12 Year Old whisky, Lustau East India sherry, Pierre Ferrand Dry Orange Curaçao and house-made grenadine syrup.

The Sloaney Pony mixes Grey Goose La Poire vodka with fresh pomegranate seeds, lemon juice and St-Germain elderflower liqueur.

The Bond Street Bespoke combines Amaro Averna, fresh raspberries, fresh lemon juice, bitters and caster sugar, while the East London Spice is made with 42Below vodka, The King’s Ginger liqueur, lime juice and orange bitters, lengthened with ginger beer.

The final star of the Bassoon’s cocktail catwalk is the Somerset Sling, mixing Hendrick’s Gin with Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, lychee juice, lemon juice and The Bitter Truth Crème de Violette liqueur.

Priced at £16, they are available only from February 15 to 19. They are pictured above (left to right): Savile Row Stitch-up, Bond Street Bespoke, Somerset Sling, Sloaney Pony and East London Spice.
