Bar celebrates Doctor Who anniversary with cocktails

Three drinks have been developed at the London Marriott Hotel West India Quay to tie in with the TV show’s official celebration at the nearby London Excel centre from November 22 to 24.

The cocktails can be enjoyed in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge bar (pictured) or in its Manhattan Grill steakhouse.

The Sonic Screwdriver, which is named after the Doctor’s all-purpose gadget, is a mix of vodka, orange curaçao and a dash of grenadine, topped up with champagne and served in a champagne flute with a garnish of a twist of orange.

The Laser Screwdriver is a fruity mix of vodka, Cointreau, Passoã and passion fruit juice, all poured over a serving of passion fruit and mango sorbet in a martini glass.

The Dalekquiri, inspired by the Daleks, again uses vodka, this time combined with Kahlúa, Baileys Irish Cream with a Hint of Mint Chocolate, chocolate liqueur and banana, served in a hurricane glass.

Tickets to the sold-out Doctor Who 50th Celebration were snapped up in less than 24 hours earlier this year, with a few more released via a ballot in September.
