London Mezcal Week returns to TT Liquor in July

London Mezcal Week

Bar and cocktail emporium TT Liquor is hosting London Mezcal Week, which returns in July for a celebration of traditionally-made agave spirits.

Running from 15 to 21 July, London Mezcal Week aims to support the agave spirit category by working solely with traditional producers to bring new brands and industry experts to the capital.

2019’s London celebration will include a variety of events, from supper-clubs and bar takeovers to seminars, masterclasses and cinema nights, ending with a two-day Tasting Festival on 19 and 20.

On Thursday 18 July, film and food dining experience Kino Vino will return to TT Liquor. The evening will begin welcome drinks, followed by a special screening of Y Tu Mama Tambien. Attendees will be treated to a Mexican inspired four-course feast created by guest chef Paola Carlini, paired with cocktails created by TT Liquor’s team of mixologists.

Dangerous Don Mezcal will be getting behind fellow female founders to celebrate women in the drinks industry, teaming up with Wonder Works to present The art of getting sh** done – stories of female brand owners. Led by Thea Cumming, the week will involve an afternoon of discussions and connections with women in the drinks business who run successful brands, accompanied by some mezcal cocktails.

There will also be bar takeovers from Bournemouth’s Mexican hotspot Ojo Rojo, along with acclaimed bar La Punta, who will be flying in from Italy on 19 July.

Other events will be hosted in the intimate Cellar Bar at TT Liquor, including Quiquiriqui Mezcal, Ocho Tequila and Ocho Curado’s annual industry party.

The highlight of the week will be the Tasting Festival, taking place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July. Featuring a collection of over 60 agave spirits, including mezcal, tequila, sotol, bananora and raicilla, it will present series of guided tastings and insights from visiting mezcaleros and some of the leading lights and experts in the industry.

Guest speakers will include Jesse Estes from Ocho Tequila, Tom Bullock, author of The Mezcal Experience, and mezcal ambassadors Cristian Bugiada and Roberto Artusio. Specially crafted cocktails and Mexican small plates will also be available.
