London semi-finalists revealed for Jägermeister’s Meister Hunter competition

Jägermeister UK’s Meister Hunter

Fourteen London semi-finalists for Jägermeister UK’s very first Meister Hunter cocktail competition have been announced.

This summer, Jägermeister UK has been challenging bartenders across the country to mix up the perfect cocktail with the launch of the very first Meister Hunter competition.

Jägermeister has introduced this challenge to test the best in the business, with regional heats due to start from July 5.

Spearheading the contest is UK Jägermeister brand ambassador, Florian Beuren, who will be on the hunt for the best recipe using the versatile herbal liqueur. Moving away from preconceptions, Jägermeister is encouraging bartenders to see the liquid as a key element in their arsenal.

Fourteen semi-finalists from London have already progressed through the ranks and will now compete for a place in the regional heats taking place in Jägermeister’s most fruitful cities – London, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester, in July and August.

Those who made the shortlist from the other cities will be announced at a later date.

The opportunity was opened to top bartenders, who were invited to join via bespoke Jägermeister video cards presented by Florian, along with an ingredients guide to inspire their creations.

Jägermeister challenged the bartenders to use a minimum 25ml of Jägermeister and include two ingredients from the following: garden herbs, eggs, jams, beers, teas, orchard fruit and soda.

The London semi-finalists are:

• Andy Mil, The Cocktail Trading Company
• Charlie Balkham, Dead Parrot
• Connor Green, Old Street Records
• Gianluca Pavanello, Bar Swift
• Jonatan Munoz Iniesta, Hawksmoor Spitalfields
• Michael Kurfurst, Hamyard
• Rochelle Stephenson, Mark’s Bar Hix
• Brenda Santos, Jack Solomons
• Colm O Neill, Nuala
• Cressida Lawlor, London Cocktail Club
• Hamish Dowie, Bar Swift
• Lorenzo Gavelli, Little Bat
• Michael O’Flaherty, Bohemia Brighton
• Francesco Petracci, The Gibson

The Meister Hunter champion will receive a cash prize of £3,000, a journey to Wolfenbüttel, the heart of Jägermeister, and they will automatically become a member of the brand’s bartender advocacy programme, the Hubertus Circle.

For London cocktail enthusiasts, the public can attend the London regional heat at Roof East, Stratford on July 5.

The finale will take place on September 20-21 in Manchester.
