Luminar plans fourth Pryzm nightclub in Brighton

PRYZM Brighton main roomThe Luminar Group is investing £1million in developing its fourth Pryzm nightclub in Brighton, converting one of its Oceana clubs into the modern new concept.

The club will feature three distinctly styled dance arenas and VIP areas under one roof, aimed at adding “more style and opulence” to the city’s clubbing scene when it re-opens on May 9.

The investment follows Pryzm Leeds, which opened at the end of March and has been exceeding expectations. The first outing for the Pryzm concept was in Bristol, which was launched last September, followed by Kingston upon Thames, south London.

Luminar’s chief financial officer Russell Margerrison said: “When we acquired the Luminar business we knew that we had to invest in our clubs. It is time to move on and bring our customers exciting, new state-of-the-art clubs that literally have the wow factor.

“The Pryzm concept has certainly achieved that goal and we are delighted with the performance of all three clubs and are confident that Brighton will be just as big a hit.”

A key change to the West Street venue, which currently attracts a quarter of a million customers a year, will be the introduction of an additional dance arena on the ground floor: the Curve music room with a 600 capacity that will be open from Wednesday through to Saturday nights.

The main arena (pictured) will become Pryzm’s key room featuring the latest lighting and sound systems, with the DJ area being relocated to the stage.

The existing venue’s Woo Woo bar will become MYU cocktail bar with booth seating and opulent décor. The popular Disco room will remain but be brought up to Pryzym standards with a refresh.

Russell added: “Apart from Disco, our main rooms will be restyled featuring exquisite décor, and they have all been renamed to suit their individual characteristics from glamorous and elegant to contemporary and high-tech styling.”

Already employing 65 people, Pryzm Brighton will be recruiting up to 30 additional staff to deliver the high service standards. The club will feature exclusive VIP areas with booth seating that can be reserved in advance, with personal table service and a premium product range.

The current venue will remain open throughout the investment.
