Cellar Trends is expanding its Luxardo range in the UK this summer with the launch of Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin.
The new gin is deep red in colour, with aromas of Marasca cherry and juniper notes. It is described as having a velvety texture and a sour cherry finish.
Its base is Luxardo Dry Gin, which is made using a recipe dating back to the 1900s using nine botanicals. A touch of sour cherry juice is added.
Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin adds a new style of spirit to the Luxardo portfolio of premium cherry products, which includes classic Maraschino, Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur and Marasca Cocktail Cherries.
Craig Chapman, marketing manager for Luxardo at Cellar Trends, said: “Luxardo are the masters of flavour when it comes to cherries. We are set to make it a high impact launch year for Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin.
“It is very much a gin, and so is distinct from other liqueurs. It can be used as the main spirit in a cocktail and can also be enjoyed in an unusual gin and tonic serve.”
Gareth ‘G’ Franklin, Luxardo global brand ambassador, and Cellar Trends will host masterclasses for bartenders and the retail trade in London.
Immersing guests in the agricultural heritage of the Luxardo family Marasca orchards in Italy, the aim is also to offer hands-on trial for mixing.
Craig adds: “We aim for as many bartenders as possible, and others in the trade, to taste it. Extensive consumer sampling is also in planning.”
