Maison Ferrand UK is bringing a new 100% agave tequila range from Destilería Orendain to the UK. The Orendain 100% Agave range – a Blanco, a Reposado and a Cristalino – makes its UK debut, arriving alongside two Orendain lines already on the UK market that now also join the Maison Ferrand UK portfolio: the premium Gran Orendain and Tequila Orendain Mixto, described by the distillery as Mexico’s best-selling Mixto.
Founded in 1926 by Don Eduardo Orendain González and his brother, Roberto, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, Casa Orendain is one of the oldest family names in the category, with a tequila tradition dating back to the early 1800s. Don Eduardo became the founder and first president of the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry in 1959, the body that worked to secure tequila’s Denomination of Origin. He belonged to the generation that understood that tequila was not just a regional product, but the drink that identifies Mexico to the world. The family distils at La Mexicana, the historic site acquired in 1944, which remains in family ownership today.
The new range is 100% agave throughout, produced using traditional stone ovens. Three expressions make their UK debut: a Blanco; a Reposado aged in American white oak barrels; and a Cristalino, one of tequila’s fastest-growing premium formats – projected to reach 6% of the category by 2028 and flagged as a key driver of premiumisation (The Spirits Business, October 2024). Orendain 100% agave is the tequila created to celebrate the centenary of Casa Orendain and in its first months on the market, it has already obtained gold and silver medals at the London Spirits Competition. It has also won gold and silver medals at the Latin American World Spirits Competition. In addition, it is a tequila that has Kosher certification.
