Manchester bar wins Clamato cocktail challenge

Clamato Beachbum Breakfast

A bar in Manchester has been announced as winner of a nationwide cocktail competition run for soft drink Clamato Tomato Cocktail as part of its new UK push.

Robert Fish at Arcane bar created the Beachbum’s Breakfast by combining the American juice with Irish whiskey infused with smoky bacon along with cherry liqueur and chilli. It is garnished with a piece of crispy bacon and “edible sand” which consists of brown sugar, crushed almonds and black pepper. See below for the recipe.

The bar in South King Street has won a package of products supplied by Clamato, The English Drinks Company and Cheeky Tiki.

The competition was held to raise awareness of the clam-infused tomato juice among bartenders as part of a wider UK push. Established in the US since 1966, Clamato is made from Californian tomatoes and New England clam broth plus a blend of spices.

The activity also features cocktail recipe ideas such as the seasonal Mrs Klaus’ Tipple which combines 120ml of Clamato with 30ml of amaretto and 20ml of lemon juice over ice, garnished with a cinnamon stick.

The Beachbum Breakfast
37.5ml Smoky bacon-infused Bushmills Black Bush Whiskey
12.5ml Cherry Heering
