Premium tortilla brand Manomasa is being promoted for serving with agave spirits through a “Mezcal Mash-Up” tasting at London restaurant and bar Casa Negra.
Manomasa pays tribute to the original tortilla chip from the back streets of Mexico – called the “totopo” – using traditional Mexican techniques to create adventurous-tasting tortillas.
Available in 40g bags, Manomasa comes in six varieties from Green Lemon & Pink Peppercorn to Tomatillo Salsa, under the banner of “Tortilla with spirit”.
Spirit enthusiasts will be welcomed on arrival with a Tommy’s Margarita made with QuiQuiRiQui mezcal and then taken to the intimate kitchen table for the tasting.
Manomasa founder Calum Ryder will take guests through the six Manomasa tortilla chip varieties, followed by a tasting of four mezcals from QuiQuiRiQui founder Melanie Symonds.
The mezcals will be QuiQuiRiQui Matatlan and San Juan del Rio, Del Maguey Vida, Del Maguey San Luis Del Rio and Los Danzantes Reposado. The drinks will be paired with Manomasa’s six topotos and Casa Negra’s dips and salsas.
Manomasa was launched in March 2013 with Chipotle & Lime, White Cheddar and Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper varieties, followed last month by Green Lemon & Pink Peppercorn, Manchego & Green Olive and Tomatillo Salsa.
