A limited-edition gin that has been aged in a single madeira cask has been released in the UK by Martin Miller’s Gin.
Its name, 26 Moons, reflects the 26 months spent in the barrel, and a reminder of the brand’s previous limited edition, 9 Moons, which was released 13 years ago.
It shares the same DNA as Martin Miller’s Gin, with citrus and juniper characteristics, but is distinctly enhanced, with complex notes of unripe berries and delicate floral notes, amplifying the usual citrus brightness of Martin Miller’s gins.
Only 960 bottles have been produced, of which around 480 bottles will be available to the public – the rest are being kept and relished by co-founders David Bromige and Andreas Versteegh. In retail exclusively at Harvey Nichols, it is priced £95.
Each 350ml individually numbered bottle has been drawn from the madeira cask and then blended at source with Icelandic spring water to a bottling strength of 42% ABV.
The portfolio also includes Martin Miller’s Gin at 40% ABV, Westbourne Strength at 45.2% ABV and 9 Moons, at 40% ABV, which has been matured in ex-bourbon casks for nine months. The founders have not revealed if they will produce more of 26 Moons.
