Masons Yorkshire Gin launches first cocktail competition

Masons Yorkshire Gin

The owners of Masons Yorkshire Gin are organising a cocktail competition, offering the winning bartender a chance to launch their own gin.

The competition, which is the first for the brand since it launched in 2013, will run across four heats in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne and Birmingham.

The overall winner will work closely with brand owner and founder Karl Mason and master distiller Gerard MacKluskey to launch a limited-edition batch of Mason’s Gin with a minimum run of 220 bottles.

The brief is to create a cocktail that truly reflects the style of Masons Gin, taking into consideration the heritage of the brand, where it is made, the story, branding and flavour profiles.

The competition judges will include Karl alongside a number of big names in the industry.

Karl said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch our first cocktail competition. The reaction to our gin in the on-trade has been fantastic and we want to reward the creativity we’ve seen over the years.

“Masons Gin was built on originality and creativity and I can’t wait to work with the winning bartender to create a limited edition bottle.”
