Drinks supplier Matthew Clark has announced that its nationwide cocktail competition Stir it Up, which debuted last year, will return for 2019.
Under the theme of ‘Discovery’, the contest is searching for “innovators, trailblazers and flavour scientists” to mix up “futuristic smash-ups” of contemporary classics.
The top 40 bartenders will battle it out live at one of the Matthew Clark Uncovered events, taking place from March to April in London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol, to ultimately secure a place in the grand final, to be hosted in London in May.
The winner will receive an exclusive, all expenses paid trip for two to Iceland’s capital Reykjavic, courtesy of Rekya Vodka. With their guest, they will take an Icelandic ‘Superjeep’ expedition led by brand ambassador Fabiano Latham through massive glaciers and waterfalls to visit the Reyka distillery.
Last year’s winner Alex Mills said: “The Stir it Up competition was definitely the catalyst for the achievements I’ve made this year. I’d implore anyone to test themselves to win it!”
Entry is open to individuals over the age of 18 working in the on‐trade with an active Matthew Clark customer account.
Cocktail creations need to be submitted online at www.matthewclark.co.uk/stir-it-up by 5pm on 14 February.
