UK winner named in Coco Re’al cocktail competition

coco real Maxime CreusotMaxime Creusot (pictured) of 64th & Social in Clapham, south London, has been declared the winner of the Coco Re’al cocktail competition run with the UK Bartenders Guild.

He beat 13 other contestants at the final to win the £500 top prize after blending salted caramel vodka with Coco Re’al coconut cream, limoncello and lemon juice to create his tiki-style drink, Allo Treacle.

Maxime’s cocktail was judged well balanced and imaginative showing a good understanding of the qualities of the coconut cream, said Steve Dingley, North European brand manager for Coco Re’al.

Second place was Alessandro Pizzoli of the Kensington Hotel in London who won £300, while third went to Mattia Conti, head bartender at The Arch Bar at the Intercontinental Hotel London Park Lane, who won £100.

Held in the Quarter Bar & Lounge of the London Bridge Hotel, the 14 contestants were judged by stringent UKBG rules.

Global rum ambassador Ian Burrell, who was one of the four judges, said: “The three finalists were outstanding. But the runners-up all set a very high standard too. This made the final decision very difficult.”
