Thornbridge Brewery is to open a bar in Birmingham as part of plans to open 10 new sites over the next five years with beer distributor and pub company Pivovar.
The independent Derbyshire brewer’s new sites will offer its full range of beers alongside a high-quality craft beer offering from the distributor’s portfolio.
They have secured their first site in the heart of Birmingham and have viewed a number of other premises in other cities. They are also looking for sites in places including Hull, Manchester, Bristol and London.
Thornbridge, based in Bakewell, has been brewing for 13 years, with a range available in kegs, casks and bottles such as Jaipur IPA, Lukas and Kipling, and already has eight pubs in the Sheffield area.
Pivovar owns eight bars across the UK, including Tapped Leeds, Pivní in York and Tap bars in Newcastle upon Tyne, Sheffield, Harrogate, York and Euston in London, alongside its nationwide craft beer wholesale business.
The two companies have worked alongside each other since the opening of the Sheffield Tap around eight years ago.
Thornbridge Brewery CEO Simon Webster said: “Having worked with Pivovar for many years, we know they are a fantastic company who share our core values. We have a real passion for pubs and want to introduce our beers to a wider market. This gives us the opportunity to work towards ensuring our beer is present in every corner of the country.”
Jamie Hawksworth, who owns Pivovar with Jonathon Holdsworth, added: “Over the last 12 years we have created award-winning bars supported by our own drinks wholesale division which delivers supply chain within our estate. We are now thrilled to be joining forces with our friends at Thornbridge to roll out more amazing bars offering access to their beer range alongside our existing drinks portfolio.”
