Mojo Group has announced that it is opening its fifth bar, taking the American dive bar concept to Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
It plans to open the new Mojo in the former site of Alberts Bar & Grill in Parliament Street in 2,400 sq ft premises that will be split across a ground level, mezzanine and second floor.
It will feature a Rhum Room on the second floor after its success at Mojo in Leeds – a space for a “quiet” drink as well as private events and cocktail masterclasses.
In a first for the group, the Harrogate site will have an outside area for dining and drinking, including barbecues, with a terrace covering 300 square feet.
Although it will be open until 4am every night, the Parliament Street bar also expects busy lunchtime trade, opening from 11.30am daily. It is due to open this spring.
After the first Mojo opened in Leeds in 1996, the group went on to expand to Manchester in 2005, Liverpool in 2008 and Nottingham last year (pictured), specialising in great drinks and food to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack.
Mojo director and co-founder Mal Evans said: “After the successful launch of our bar in Nottingham, we’re bringing Mojo home to Yorkshire, where the idea was first born.
“We’ve had more space to play with this time, and even with the terrace and Rhum Room, we’ve still got a few more tricks up our sleeve.”
