MONIN champions mixologists of the future with the return of MONIN Cup competition

MONIN, the leading syrup brand in the UK on-trade and a trusted partner for hospitality professionals all over the world[1], has announced the 2024 return of the MONIN Cupcompetition.

The contest encourages new, young bartenders aged 18-27 from across the world to showcase their talent as mixologists by creating original serves with MONIN products. Bartenders from the UK are invited to enter the UK Heat held from 2nd-3rd September, with the chance to win a trip to Athens Bar Show this November, plus an invitation to the MONIN Cup Grand Final at the MONIN HQ in Bourges, France this December for the chance to win on a global scale against finalists from all around the world.

The theme of the 2024 MONIN Cup is ‘Low is More’; a brief for aspiring bartenders to take inspiration from the current low and no alcohol trend gripping the drinks world to create aesthetic and flavourful low and no alcohol cocktails. MONIN’s acclaimed portfolio, featuring an impressive range of syrups, concentrates, liqueurs, and mixers lends itself perfectly to the creation of exquisite low and no alcohol drinks.

More than just a competition, partaking in MONIN Cup offers the opportunity to receive expert mentorship from the MONIN team and industry-leading mixologists. From 1st – 16th August, finalists will develop their skills by learning from the best with critique on presentation, technique and flavour profile. Entrants are encouraged to connect with fellow aspiring bartenders, explore the exquisite flavours of MONIN, and revel in friendly rivalry for a truly unforgettable experience.

Anna Price, Winner of the 2022 UK MONIN Cup, encourages aspiring bartenders to make their entries stand out by pushing the boundaries of creativity when designing their low and no serves. She said: “MONIN Cup provides young bartenders with an exceptional opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the global bartending industry. It not only enables them to refine their craft and build confidence, but it also challenges their creativity.

“Beyond being a competition, the MONIN Cup serves as a reminder of the endless possibilities within the industry while emphasising the continuous pursuit of knowledge and the boundless potential for innovation. Young bartenders should enter the MONIN Cup because it can inspire them, push them to improve their craft, challenge their creativity and serve as a catalyst for both personal and professional growth.”

Lee Hyde, Senior Beverage Expert at MONIN said: “Capitalising on what’s ‘hot’ trends, such as the current low and no trend, is how hospitality venues stay relevant, making this year’s theme the perfect chance for young UK bartenders to develop their skillset within the popular realm of mocktails. Make full use of MONIN’s vast portfolio, experiment with flavours, place a twist on classics and excite our judges with something unique!

“MONIN encourages prospective entrants from across the hospitality industry to join this celebration of the art of mixology. Competitions like MONIN Cup are key to ensuring a bright future for the drinks industry by bolstering the next generation of bartending talent, who we at MONIN are always eager to support.”
