Mr Black to introduce Italian-inspired amaro with coffee

Mr Black Amaro

Amaro, the traditional Italian bitter liqueur, has inspired a new permanent expression from the makers of Mr Black Cold Press Coffee Liqueur.

Like the core expression, the new bitter-sweet Mr Black Coffee Amaro is made with cold-brew coffee but has 14 distilled and macerated fresh botanicals added, including bitter gentian, orange and grapefruit.

Head distiller Philip Moore said: “Amaro is essentially a botanical drink, similar to a gin or absinthe, so blending that idea with the specialty coffee craftsmanship of Mr Black was something I really enjoyed developing.”

Mr Black Coffee Amaro comes in a 70cl bottle, with ABV of 28.5%. It is distributed in the UK by Love Drinks and will be available to the trade and from Speciality Drinks from April 30.

Established in 2012, Mr Black was created by Philip and designer Tom Baker. It is made with cold-press Arabica bean coffee, using cold extraction for a rounder, less acidic taste, plus a grain spirit for an intense coffee flavour.
