Mum’s the word: cocktail ideas for Mother’s Day

hendrick's gin mother's day

Spending on treats on Mother’s Day make it the biggest Sunday of the year for the hospitality industry, according to figures from payment specialists Worldpay. Bars, pubs and restaurants saw average takings rise by more than 50% on that day last year – compared to only 20% on Valentine’s Day.

Drinks brands such as Hendrick’s Gin and Staritsky & Levitsky Reserve Vodka are helping bars to capitalise on this opportunity by suggesting themed serves for this year’s Mother’s Day on March 15.

Mum’s The Word was created by Meg Demeulenaere for Edinburgh bar The Last Word Saloon and, inspired by the classic Last Word cocktail, it combines Hendrick’s Gin with Yellow Chartreuse plus blue curacao. With the brand’s typical teapot serve, the Hendrick’s Dream Time Martini is made with lavender and honey.
