New boss for Missoula and Slug and Lettuce bars

Missoula Milton KeynesStonegate Pub Company has announced that it has appointed Clare Staples to head up its Slug and Lettuce, Missoula and Living Room bars.

She has been with restaurant operator Gondola Group for the past 17 years, most recently as head of operations for the south for ASK restaurants. She took up her new role on Monday (January 6).

Stonegate is currently investing in expanding its Slug and Lettuce and Missoula bars, part of its 625-strong estate of pubs and bars. It also operates the Scream, Yates and Varsity bars.

It operates 14 bars branded as Missoula, its food and drink concept inspired by Montana in the US. It opened the first “new-generation” Missoula (pictured) in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, in December after an investment of over £350,000.

The Living Room bars in York and Nottingham are both due to be converted to Missoula as part of a programme to open up to nine more sites under the concept by the spring.

Stonegate is also investing in Slug and Lettuce, including the conversion of The Living Room at St Katharine Docks by Tower Bridge, London. It plans 12 new Slug and Lettuce sites in 2014.

In October last year, Stonegate took over 13 bars operating as The Living Room from Premium Bars & Restaurants, part of Orchid Group.
