New brewery plans growth after launching eight beers

Gorgeous pubs- The Bull January 2018

The new independent Gorgeous Brewery in north London has launched a range of eight beers from pale ales and seasonal IPAs through to a stout.

Based at The Bull pub in Highgate, the brewery is starting to build sales in bottle shops and bars in its own area but is in talks to secure distribution throughout London and the rest of the UK.

The range, available in bottles and 30-litre kegs, starts with No 1 Glowfly bitter at 4% ABV, which has a malty body and firm bitterness, with coffee sweetness and a mild fruity finish.

No 2 Gunpowder IPA at 4.8% ABV has a strong malt base with an intense bitter finish. It is earthy and resinous with orange marmalade aromas.

No 3 Geekhunter Extra Pale Ale at 4.2% ABV is light-bodied with hoppy aromas of grapefruit and stonefruit.

No 4 Greaseball American Pale Ale at 5.4% is dry-hopped with a flavourful, lingering finish and notes of resinous pine and citrus.

No 5 Gyrocropter session IPA at 4.1% ABV is crisp, with well-hopped tropical fruit flavours and citrus aromas.

No 6 Goofyhoof Pacific Pale Ale at 4.6% ABV has a high stone fruit flavour with a hint of tropical fruit. Made with New World hops, it is low in bitterness.

No 7 Greedyguts golden ale at 3.5% ABV is light-bodied with vibrant hops and tropical, pine and citrus flavours.

No 8 Gravedigger Vanilla Milk Stout at 5% ABV is dark and rich with a sweet chocolate malt and vanilla flavour.

Founder Rob Laub, who is licensee of The Bull, said: “Having started Gorgeous Brewery with a small two-barrel brewing kit, we are delighted to be in our new five-barrel brewery to launch our own range of eight hand-crafted beers.

“We want to meet the increasing demand for good-quality beer from small-batch breweries, which are being made available for everyone across the country.

“We have designed the beers to ensure that the range encompasses something for every beer drinker and for every occasion, based on what we would enjoy drinking.”

Rob established the brewery after buying The Bull in 2016. He works alongside his sister, Sam, and head brewer Reuben Moore.
