The makers of Forest Gin from the Peak District have launched a new expression infused with a tea blend.
Earl Grey Forest Gin uses oolong tea, scented with Italian bergamot which imbues it with a hint of vanilla with a soft citrus aroma. It was created in collaboration with Bernadine Tay from Quinteassential, a fine loose leaf tea company based in Chester.
When steeped in the Forest Gin, the alcohol draws out the flavour of the Earl Grey from the tea leaves. The result is a deep amber-coloured gin at 39.5% ABV that is clean tasting with herbaceous and fruity notes that trails a scent of citrusy bergamot.
Husband and wife team Lindsay and Karl Bond created the new gin at their Forest Distillery in Macclesfield Forest in Cheshire. Initially available exclusively from Harvey Nichols priced £67.50 per 70cl bottle, it comes in a bespoke deep blue glazed porcelain bottle which is produced in Stoke-on-Trent by Wade Ceramics.
Bernadine said: “We are so proud to work with the Bond family and feel we are kindred spirits in many ways. Both based in Cheshire, and from the careful sourcing of ingredients to the end bottle, it is a showcase of British craftsmanship.”
